F.A.Q.

What does "Unlimited data from 60+ data sources" mean?

Using Cubit, you get cut-and-paste ready demographic, economic and housing data from more than 60 sources for your projects in seconds. A few examples are: US Census 2010 counts, American Community Survey estimates, State Data Center Population projections, Bureau of Labor Statistics data and NCES School District data. You can learn more on the Take a Tour of Cubit page.

What does "a project" mean?

A project is a single drawing on the Cubit interactive map.

An example might help explain projects. Let's say you need to get demographic data for a new roadway that your engineering firm is building. You draw the new roadway on the Cubit interactive map (you now have 1 project). Then, the project engineer determines that the alignment needs to be shifted to the north by either 50 feet or 100 feet. He asks you to get data for these 2 new alignments. You draw both alignments in Cubit (you now have 3 projects: original alignment; 50 feet to the north alignment; and 100 feet to the north alignment). Next, the engineer says that the alignment 100 feet to the north won't work. So you delete that alignment from Cubit (you now have 2 projects: original alignment and 50 feet to the north alignment).

You can can edit the drawing on a project as often as you want. You don't have to create a new project for each drawing. But if you want to save a particular drawing and its reports, starting a new project is the way to go.

What does "Reference Maps" mean?

A reference map shows your project (your drawing) and labeled Census geographies surrounding your project. See an example Reference Map.

What does "Shapefile Support" mean?

Engineering and planning firms that use ESRI or other GIS software often need shapefile support. Cubit plans with Shapefile Support allow you to upload shapefiles of your project area into Cubit. This feature saves time and headaches for complex projects that might be a pain to draw by hand. Also, the Cubit system generates shapefiles with the Census geographies in your project area. Send this shapefiles to your GIS guru for easy integration into the custom maps that she is creating for your project.

What does "MS Word Format" mean?

You can download your data reports as Microsoft Word files for quick cut-and-paste insertion into your documents.
