Census 2010 Cities Data

I recently got a request from a user to provide Census 2010 cities data for all cities in the United States through Cubit’s new new Name Your Geography feature. The Cubit user requesting this data said that the “American Fact Finder 2 is currently throwing an error for this search.” Since I’ve already pulled Census 2010 Redistricting data for all US cities for this user,  I thought that other folks might be interested in this data, too–hence this blog post announcing it.

How to Get Data for Census 2010 Cities Fast and For Free

1. Log In or Sign Up for your free 7 day trial of Cubit (no credit card required; over 500 busy people use Cubit to get demographic data in seconds).
2. In the upper right hand corner, click on Naming Your Geographies.
3. Enter “Data for Census 2010 Cities” in field #2 of the Form.

What does Census 2010 Cities data look like?

Usually within 24 hours (and often sooner), I’ll email you with a link to the data as an Excel file. Here’s what it looks like:

Data for Census 2010 Cities

The file is 5.8 MB, so I’ll send you a link and not the file itself so as to avoid clogging up your email inbox. The file has Census 2010 Redistricting data for all 29,262 cities (aka places) in the United States. Census 2010 redistricting data includes:

  1. population totals,
  2. race breakdown and
  3. housing units information.

What can I do with this data?

Anything you want! You could do some pretty interesting analyses, like comparing your city to cities of similar sizes. Just for fun, below are US cities with over 30,000 people with the largest percentage of Hispanic residents.

If you do an interesting analysis of this data, please let me know in the comments!
